- Flagpole Sitta

Well, I have decided that I have to see the Internal Storm tour one more time before it ends. I miss them all already.

Here's what went down at the Rave in Milwaukee, WI Sept.1st. 2004>

I got to the venue and Christian, Simon, and Tomas were outside by the van. Tomas was spray painting his luggage- Christian was watching. They even put a few designs on the Rave's pavement.....so if you go there, look in the right corner near the venue, and you will find that the parking lot has been officially blindsided. I hung out with the guys, Naomi (tour managers wife), and Bradley Hathaway all day. I watched Tomas and Christian give a radio interview, which was really cool. They had some great answers, and it was incredibly funny when they tried to do a radio spot....("hi my name is _______, you're listening to ________ The Extreme!") I think it took a good 15 times for them to remember how to say the radio stations name. I was sitting in a chair next to Tomas with my hands over my mouth trying not to cry. It was great.   Then we went to Panera for dinner. Apparently, no one else wanted to go, so it was just Christian,Simon, Marcus,Tomas, and myself. We took their 15 passenger van to the restaurant..... Marcus and I were the only ones to actually get Panera however, because the rest of the guys got distracted by the place next door. So I sat and had dinner with Marcus in Panera, then we went to find the other three guys.  We were gone from the venue for about 3 hours.

So we get back as the Kick is winding up their set, then Bradley is on for a few minutes, MewithoutYou was very good, they had a really great night. After MewithoutYou, Bradley comes out one more time to rock the mike. He even did a poem for me. I told him earlier that I really liked the "Hug Poem", so he decided to perform it .Thanks Bradley!   At almost 10 pm, Blindside took the stage and rocked the place to it's knees. Marcus graced us with some new techno beats and sounds for about 10 minutes half way through the set. It was great, he does a beautiful job. After the show we hung out as everyone was packing up. I got some video of Jimmi (Blindside tour manager), Bradley, and Simon skateboarding in the lot. Then there was rumor of free pizza, so Christian invited me to come with them for pizza. Have I mentioned how very nice these guys are??? So I went and hung out for a while with everyone.  We learned that Lou from The Kick, doesn't like Led Zepplin at all! Everyone was shocked at his lack of taste. hahaha.

So, I may be flying out to their last show in the tour- Sept. 28th in Oklahoma. Maybe I'll see you there.

One Love,

Megan

- Endings

Hello All,

I'm getting ready right now for what will possibly be my last Blindside show of the year. This will be the sixth time I see them this summer. After this tour is over, they will go back to Sweden, rest, and start writing material for the next album. So, you never know when their touring will resume in the states. I highly recommend you get out and travel far if you have to to see this show before you miss your chance. Most of the show have been Sold-Out by the time the day of the show rolls around, so buy early!!!!!

Additional reason to check out the Internal Storm tour: MewithoutYou, The Kick, and the slam poet Bradley Hathaway. All of these artists are very talented and unique.

Check it out.

One Love,

Megan

(Xanga Premium Ya'll!)

Ok. This is the review I wrote of the Project 86 show at Purple Door....

As a photographer, I rarely fear for my life.  Sure- you have your big band pyrotechnics, and your hardcore band ninja kicks courtesy of lead singers....

But I consider myself brave.  Very skilled at the duck-and-weave too, if you will.

Friends, the review I present to you today is from Purple Door 2004. The band- Project 86.

Friday night was dissapointing for many faithful fans of Blindside and Pillar due to the heavy rainfall.  The crowd was graced with 35% of Pillar's hit, "Fireproof".

(Truth be told, they aren't waterproof.)

So- this left Saturday's artists with slight hesitation and a bit of worry.

The men of Project 86 had been stuffed in a tiny 4 1/2 passenger mini van and were ready to stretch their bodies and lungs with a pleasing and encore worthy performance.  They took the stage, and the 2000+ kids were picking up their feet like steed ready to run, or in their case ready to mosh.   The ground was a virtual mud pool, and just by walking you were assured to be brown from the calf down.

Rousing applause and anxious hollers filled the air as Randy Torres started up the first song, "Hollow".  Lead singer, Andrew Schwab took the stage and got into character right away.  The once partially clean fans were now covered in this hardcore goop.  Still they screamed every word they knew to the songs they loved.  Their set list included such favorites as, "Spy Hunter", "Shadow On Me", "Me Against Me", "Stein's Theme", and "Little Green Men".  Strong until the end, the crowd begged for more, more, more.  An encore like none other.

"Pipe Dream".

For those of you who have been Project fans since the beginning will know that they haven't played this in quite a while.  Joy spread across the faces of the die hard mud children as they yelled back to Macabre Schwab.

Before the bridge, Schwab's intense facial stature turned to a slight grin.  He looked out to the audience, and said,

"You're all so polite for not throwing mud at us."

They continued the song.  Mind you, this entire time, I'm on stage.  Rocking along doing my whole photography thing.  Unaware of what was to come I decided to snap a few pictures of Andrew by the front of the stage.  Next thing I knew, I was diving behind drummer Alex Albert and seeking shelter.

Mud was flung.  Pieces of this hardcore goop  came flying at Project 86.  Smack! One pile to the back of bassist Steve Dail's head.  Andrew noe becoming one with his muddy followers, continued the chorus.  Stage hands, crew, roadies were frantic for whatever reasons they felt they needed to be frantic for.   Amps - covered.  The words Marshall and Peavy dripping and smothered in this mucky-muck.  The plug was pulled, and with a gleam in his eye, and mud in his ears, Andrew stepped to the back of the stage.   Somehow I could see him describing this as the craziest show he's ever done.

In the end, all you could do was smile.  Leave it to such an "artsy" and "controversial" band as Project 86 to put on the best show Purple Door has ever seen.

Well the fans at least. Can't say much for the clean up crew.
